From a Social point of view
by Henk Neuhoff
After only being on the track a handful of times, I am still a newbie to this exciting sport of track racing. It has certainly added a new dimension to my cycling abilities, not to mention the great workout and newly acquired bike handling skills. It’s a fast paced, adrenalin fuelled, action packed and sometimes nerve wrecking experience and I love it!
With the Argus around the corner, it is clear that fitness levels are peaking and the racing intensified even in our Social league. Maroesjka Matthee showed some excellent form by annihilating the men in our first event of 1500m. The Elimination race delivered a spectacular sprint won by Victor Grobbelaar.
The highly contested 2000m team pursuit ended in the Social record books. Team A, (Henk Neuhoff, Alan Thomas, Victor Grobbelaar & Heinrich Visser) managed to stay together and hand down a 6 seconds beating to Team B (Maroesjka Mattee, Fanie Visser, JP Nell & Marius Carstens).
Fanie and JP will be organizing social track evening again soon and would like to extend the invitation to anyone wanting to try out the track. They will even be able to lend you bike for the night!

GENERAL NEWS
On track for the Giro
Brandon Christians and Reginald Benjamin of the Bellville Cycles premier team will be competing in the Giro del Capo multiday stage race. Go trackies!
Thrills and spills
Riaan Joubert is in a positive frame of mind after he had a spill at the Tuesday league. His team captain, Gavin Smith, indicated that the veteran track cyclist is already talking about resuming his training this monday - less than a week after his fall. If Lance Armstrong could come back from a broken collar bone then so can Riaan! All the best with your recovery.
Hannes Basson came off while taking evasive action on the track. All the best with the healing of your "road rash".
Danie Langeveldt is recovering well after a training accident involving a vehicle. He is well on the road to recovery and was supporting at the track on Tuesday. Hope to see you back on your track bike soon!
